It has been now two years (April 2001) since I have
signed up and joined
The Garden of Friendship.
I don't remember anymore how I found GOF.
I think I saw a "Join Banner" somewhere in a friend's site and
I was so curious and that I came to see how this Garden looked
like.
The group concept was very interesting and it offered so many activities
to the members that I signed for three Committees at once:
Graphics,
Quilters
and Recipes.
Now I am joining Blossoms
too, as well as the non-Committees QuiltersClub,
TNT (Tubes and Tutorials) and Guestbook Party.
By this time the Garden was not so big as it is now.
Recipes Committee was still a baby that could not walk alone.
I remember submitting tons of recipes to Sugie, Cathie and JezebelJen
without even knowing the reason why because I have never seen them online.
It took some time until I saw the Recipe
Book.
Then I fell in love completely with this beautiful, simple and clean layout
made by Valatine and
was of course very proud to have helped.
Somewhere last year I was invited by Jezebel Jen's (CL)
to become her ACL, position that I accepted immediately. There
was only a problem. The site was made with FrontPage and although
I had this program in my PC was never able to understand and work with
it. Jezebel Jen was very patient and explained me step by step
how to handle with it and so I began to upload some pages. It was very
difficult and sometimes I had the feeling I would never get it. FrontPage
was so... strange...
Before JezebelJen left the Garden, due to healthy problems
I was able to deal with FrontPage. She just sent me the whole site
in .zip file and asked me if I would like to become the new Committee
Leader (CL) for Recipes. I was more than honored but also a
little bit afraid if I would ever be able to do all the work in time.
Well, this is now quite an year ago and it has been a wonderful, creative
(and delicious) time. The Recipes Book has now more than 1000 files
(including about 400 .html pages and graphics), which are growing daily
as I receive new submitions from the Committee members (and other GOF
members too).
The sixteen (16) members (stand June 30, 2003) who build the Garden
of Friendship Recipe Committee do their work not only with "heart-and-soul"
but also with "heart-and-stomach" and this is the result of
our efforts. Without the help from our very dedicated members it would
never be possible to make this Recipe Book what it is now: a delicious
site, not only for the eyes, but for the heart and naturally for the stomach!!!
